String Survey

This 50-foot, interactive data visualization of participants’ thoughts and opinions on climate change was created for the all-night Northern Spark arts festival. With strings color-coded by age group, the artwork reveals answers to a series of scaled questions about the future of our environment. Visitors were invited to share their thoughts on tags tied to the end of their string.

"String Survey" showed that while people feel a strong need to act on climate, they see their individual role in addressing the challenge to be less apparent.

Team included: Arlene Birt, Jack Becker, Nichole Goodwell, and Randy Walker.
Supported by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) Sustainable Design Program and the MCAD Gallery.
