We collaboratively developed tools and strategies to help citizens engage with and understand the City’s 20-year Comprehensive Plan.
Infographic-driven illustrations, process tools, and an interactive engagement tool for community participation.
The interactive online animation facilitates community engagement and provides a digital platform for people to give their input on the city’s plan on alternative ways to address the built, natural, and economic environment of the city.

Using a dynamic, interactive approach to engage audience participation, Background Stories developed this interactive online animation to communicate the needs of Minneapolis in the year 2040 and solicit input from the public.
Interactive illustration showcases the six values of the 2040 Plan. Upon hover, the illustration highlights relevant portions of the landscape and reveals the goals of each category.
Designed to facilitate community engagment, Background Stories worked with the City of Minneapolis to develop to develop tools and strategies that will inform the City’s next 20-year Comprehensive Plan. The plan will explore alternative ways to address the built, natural, and economic environment of the city.
