Aquarium Conservation Partnership
Supporting Sustainable Oceans
Making the needs of ocean ecosystems more visible
Infographics and Design to raise awareness for ocean and freshwater conservation
Since 2017, our work for the Aquarium Conservation Partnership (ACP) — a nationwide coalition of aquariums & zoos — has centered on building engagement and communicating impact.
We designed materials for four of ACP's public outreach campaigns, aimed at both policymakers and citizens. In 2020, we launched The Ocean Needs Your Vote and "Small Fish, Big Impact," a campaign highlighting the importance of forage fish on marine ecosystems. We established a consistent look and feel for ACP's recurring conservation publications and in 2021, launched our design for the group's first public website: aquariumconservation.org
Our Work Includes: WEBSITE DESIGN, DIGITAL & PRINT CAMPAIGNS, INFOGRAPHICS, ANIMATION, LOGO & PUBLICATION DESIGN

This Organization's Focus:
"Small Fish, Big Impact" campaign
Raising awareness about the importance of forage fish to ocean wildlife, ecosystems and marine economies — we created a campaign logo, series of social media graphics, printed handouts and coloring sheets for aquarium visitors, and an animated GIF.
"The Ocean Needs Your Vote" campaign
Ahead of the 2020 elections, this campaign encouraged voter registration and aquarium-related advocacy in voting choices. We created a campaign logo, website, series of social media graphics, print posters, and an animated gif.

“At ACP, we love working with Background Stories, and we love what they do! For the past five years, their team has helped us create informative and beautiful designs to help our audiences 'get' our causes at-a-glance. From mobilizing citizens to educating policymakers, Background Stories helps us expertly navigate the ways to increase our impact."
